At this point in the collection, I started on the first of two-two and a half month swing shift assignments. I would normally have to sleep through the Pat Cashman show, so I soon started recording every morning of the show, except where I forgot, or I didn't set up the timer properly, or it was Monday and I thought I could stay up through the show. (I didn't.) I worried about wearing out my tape recorders from taping this much of the show, and I would find a better solution a few weeks later.

Here in the list, Sea Monkey asked me to record the show for her while she was flying to her Mexican trip. I couldn't just tape it and get the whole show, but I didn't think I could CD it either, because I wanted to do that for the Mexican broadcasts, when I would have all weekend to edit them and clear them out of my hard drive. I recorded it on my hard drive anyway, and found it only took me little more than an hour to edit down a three and a half hour show. With blank CDs costing little more than tapes, this becomes a better solution. Instead of being tempted to fast forward through the commercials while driving or while at work, I would have them already taken out, forever. Also, CDs, with separate tracks, encourages better organization in writing down show descriptions. Instead of writing on little tape cards, I can write on full sized pieces of paper, which I can then fold into CD wallets. And since I wasn't planning on recording over the tapes anyway, they might as well be on CD.
