It is interesting to see how so many political bigshots are covering their butts with statements and revised statements concerning Mark Foley's lurid e-mails to teenage Congressional pages.
How about this? Ask anyone who had direct knowledge of the e-mails before Foley resigned to offer their own resignations.
It is also interesting to see people like Newt Gingrich try to soft soap this by saying Congress was afraid to offend gays by reprimanding Foley. HELLO NEWT! This is not a gay issue, it is a minor child issue.
Dr James Dobson gave a softball statement on the issue, compare that to how he was ranting when Clinton had an affair with a consenting adult.
Still waiting to hear what Jerry Falwell has to say.

Follies, indeed. I read the transcript as did eight bazillion other people, I reckon. What an asshat. He has ruined his own life and tainted anew the way many people regard gays--as child-recruiting, evil underhanded sleazeballs. Nice going.
And yeah, nice going also to the dozens of others who knew years ago of his proclivities and warned their pages against him, but allowed him to continue his nasty ways.

I particularly like the part where they only warned the Republican pages. D.C. is all class all the time.

We are unlikely to hear anyone invoke any violation of sodomy laws as such ordinances, like miscegnation laws, have mostly disappeared from the books or are ignored today.

So why bring it up?
My understanding is his (inappropriate) behavior was confined to e-mails and instant messages. This whole thing is incredibly sad - that his own party would rather turn a blind eye than to take him aside and say "We are aware that you are acting inappropriatly, and you better stop, NOW.) Bad enough to be a gay man and a Republican, but doesn't he have any friends?

There should be a law against spitting on the sidewalk. Wait, there already is one. Never mind.
