LOS ANGELES (AP) - Actress Ruta Lee was honored Tuesday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, where she once worked as an usher and candy girl.
Lee, 70, said it was her lifelong dream to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard.
"It's the pot at the end of the rainbow," she said as she was joined by her family and friends, including Debbie Reynolds and Alex Trebek, who hosted the mid-1970s game show "High Rollers" with Lee.
Lee got her start in show business in 1953 when she played a teenager in an episode of television's "The Adventures of Superman." She later appeared in "Funny Face" with Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn, as Tyrone Power's secret love in "Witness for the Prosecution," and as Frank Sinatra's leading lady in the Rat Pack comedy "Sergeants 3."
She has also had roles in numerous television shows, including "The Twilight Zone,""Gunsmoke,""Bonanza" and "The Love Boat."
So who's next, Emmaline Henry? I am sure Ms Lee is a nice person, but does the body of her work really qualify her for such immortalization? I don't think so. Do ya think being buds with Debbie Reynolds had anything to do with it?

I believe all you need to get a star is something like a petition signed by a specific number of people, and $$$$. The $$$$ being the key.
ETA: Make that $$$$$.

yep, nothing to do with talent. all you need are signitures from a small group of fans and money.

In other words, it's kinda like those offers I used to get in the mail back in high school saying that I had been "selected" to be in "Who's Who Among American High School Students." At first I was flattered, and thought "What an honor! That's gonna look awfully sweet on my college applications!", but then I saw that they wanted something like $100 before they'd put your name in the ding-danged book. I was sorta disillusioned after that.

I once played the lead in a home movie called "I was a teenage Christmas tree". I never got to see the film since my brother's camera and tapes were stolen, but I am sure it was a hit.
